GIA Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and the makers of GIA (“we”) about your use of the GIA app.
By installing and using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. What GIA is
GIA is an app for tracking the menstrual cycle, planning a pregnancy and following a pregnancy, with educational materials on women's health and a separate space for a partner.
2. GIA is not a medical device and doesn't replace a doctor
- The app's materials, predictions and hints are general information. They are not a diagnosis, medical advice or a treatment plan.
- Predictions of periods, the fertile window and possible ovulation are approximate. They are based on the dates you entered and do not confirm that ovulation has happened or will happen.
- The fertile-window prediction is not a method of birth control and does not guarantee pregnancy.
- The gestational age and due date shown in the app are calculated; the exact ones are determined by your doctor.
- For any health question, and especially if something worries you, see a doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
3. Who may use the app
The app may be used by people aged 16 and older.
4. Your data
Everything you enter is stored only on your device; we have no access to it. See the privacy policy for details. You are responsible for keeping your device, your backups and the password to your data file safe: we cannot recover a forgotten password or lost data.
5. GIA Plus subscription
What is free and what is paid
GIA's core features are free. Some tools are opened by the paid GIA Plus subscription. What the subscription includes is shown in the app before you buy. We may change what is free and what is paid; we will tell you about significant changes in the app.
Plans and free trial
- There are two plans: monthly and yearly. The price in your currency and the length of the period are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm payment.
- New subscribers get a free trial; its length is shown on the purchase screen. The trial is offered once.
- Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid subscription on the plan you chose, and the store charges you.
Payment and automatic renewal
- The subscription is sold by the app store — the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). Payment is charged to your store account; we do not receive your payment details.
- The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the current price unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- If the subscription price changes, the store will notify you in advance and, where its rules require, ask for your consent. Without consent the subscription will not renew.
How to cancel
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → GIA → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → GIA → Cancel subscription.
After you cancel, you keep access to GIA Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds
Payments are taken by the store, so refunds are handled by the store under its own rules: for the App Store, at reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google Play, through Google Play Help. These terms do not limit the rights the law of your country guarantees to consumers, including a right to withdraw from the contract where you have one.
Offer codes
A discount or a longer trial may be available with an offer code. Such a code is redeemed only through the app store and is subject to the conditions shown when you redeem it. Codes cannot be exchanged for money.
Family sharing
Where the store supports it, the subscription may work for members of your family group; this is how your partner can get their own space at no extra cost.
6. The partner's space and the invitation code
You can invite your partner by showing them a code. The code holds only the mode, the due date (for a pregnancy) and your name, if you added it. Whom to show the code to is your decision; we don't send or store it. Your partner uses the app on their own device under these same terms.
7. What you may not do
You may not: copy, sell or distribute the app's materials without our permission; attempt to hack the app, get around payment or decompile it, except where the law expressly allows; use the app for unlawful purposes.
8. Intellectual property
The app, its texts, illustrations, audio and video belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your devices in accordance with these terms and the app store's rules.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is”. We work to make it reliable and its materials accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, the absence of errors, the accuracy of predictions, or that the app is fit for a particular purpose — including preventing or achieving pregnancy.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions you make based on information from the app, for loss of data on your device, or for indirect damages. Nothing in these terms removes or limits the rights the law guarantees to you as a consumer.
11. App store terms
The app is distributed through the App Store and, later, Google Play. Your use of it is also subject to the terms of the relevant store (for the App Store, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and the standard EULA). Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the app or its content.
12. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. The new version will be published at the same address with a new date; we will tell you about significant changes in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the new version.
